The North of Portugal is a region known by its luxuriant hills, vineyards and beautiful towns, from which the city of Braga stands out, especially because its relation and proximity (about 17 km away) with Guimarães. Despite holding one of the youngest populations from Europe, Braga is one of the oldest Portuguese cities. Founded in Roman times, under the name of Bracara Augusta, it boasts over 2000 years of history as a city. It is also one of the oldest Christian cities in the world.

Porto is located a little further away from Guimarães (about 40 Km), but it is definitively the most popular place to visit in the region, thanks to its winemaking tradition, magnificent Baroque architecture, distinctive local cuisine, stunning scenery and abundance of culture. Porto has been awarded the Best Destination in Europe for four consecutive years, since 2017.

The Douro Valley region is also located in the North of Portugal, pictured by a unique scenery carved by the Douro River as one of the most breathtaking landscapes in Portugal and where the production of Port Wine takes place. In addition to its wine, this region is also known for its high-quality olive oil and almond trees, which fill the valley with colour.
